Win two tickets to see the Taiwanese Cloud Gate dancers Bite NZ

Taiwanese is going to be on the menu for dance fans at this year’s Auckland Arts Festival. From March 10-12 the prestigious, contemporary Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan will tell the story of Chihshang in the East Rift Valley. Previously tainted by the use of chemical fertiliser, this farming village has now regained its title as the Land of the Emperor’s Rice by adopting organic principles. Cinematographer Chang Hao-jan spent two years filming the rice paddies to create the massive backdrop in front of which the dance is performed.
The Cloud Gate dancers, who worked in the rice fields for research, are famous for their stillness and poise along with acrobatic and martial arts skills. This week we’re giving one lucky Bite reader the chance to win a double ticket to Rice’s opening night at the ASB Theatre in Aotea Square, Auckland on Friday March 10, 2017.
