Win tickets to the Mahana premier in Rotorua - Get your seats, with Flava at the Mahana premiere at Reading Cinemas Rotorua – the day before it opens to the public on Wednesday, 2 March! Temuera Morrison (Grandfather Tamihana Mahana) will even be on hand after the movie for any questions you have about the film! Mahana is based on the book Bulibasha by Witi Ihimaera and is directed by Lee Tamahori – his first NZ film in 20 years, since Once Were Warriors. The movie is set in 1960’s rural NZ where two Maori sheep-shearing families, the Mahanas and the Poatas battle for supremacy in the shearing sheds, and in their hearts. The youngest Mahana, 14 year old Simeon is troubled by the rivalry and begins to unravel the truth behind the longstanding feud.
