The Idea Collective, MOTAT’s newest installation showcasing Kiwi ingenuity, is partnering with Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) for Auckland’s inaugural Techweek. This unmissable cluster of events from 16 to 22 May, takes place in The Idea Collective’s contemporary innovation space covering relevant and trend-focused topics. There will be demonstrations of cutting-edge high-end gaming machines, virtual and augmented reality, the latest indie games and advancements in haptic technology. Here is a list of the activities The Idea Collective at MOTAT has planned Week of Play & Wonder 16 – 18 May, 10am – 5pm Normal MOTAT admission fees apply Week of Play & Wonder Open Gaming Evening Friday, 20 May, 6pm – 8pm FREE Magnify – The Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality Pacific Summit Thursday, 19 May, 10.30am – 5.30pm Friday, 20 May, 10.30am – 4.30pm FREE (registration is essential) Weekend of Tech Workshops During Techweek AKL, The Idea Collective will host a weekend of hands-on technical workshops. These offer the chance to experience first-hand how to make a computer game, use a 3D printer or build a PC. Participants will spend a morning or afternoon learning from some of the most interesting and fun innovators in the city, including The Pop-Up Arcade, Robogals, Hubbub, Playtech and Ames IT.
