The prototype device which fits on the collar of your furry friend, was developed after extensive research into cat behaviour. The device identifies a cat’s miaow with a digital sensor and uses a unique programme to turn it into a human voice. A completely new, breakthrough device, the Catterboxcollar™ is set to take interactions with our feline friends to another level! The clever Temptations Catterboxcollar™ listens for a “miaow” sound from chatty cats, then based on this sound uses a unique custom miaowalgorithm to detect if this in fact a miaow, or another sound. If the 'miaowalgorithm' gets a match, the Catterboxcollar™ will play a phrase chosen by the owner from a range of human voices to represent their cats personality. LEDs are mounted on the face of the display to show the device is active, and the comfy collar is coated with rubber lacquer for an exclusive, active look and feel to let your feline go with the flow. And for the ultimate personal touch, the Catterboxcollar™ also connects to the Temptations Catterbox™ smartphone app, enabling cat owners to choose their cat’s new human voice! The Temptations Catterbox™ is the first product idea to come out of the newly created Temptations Lab; a research workstream dedicated to the future of fun times with your feline friend, developed in collaboration with adam&eveDDB. Temptations spokesperson Oliver Downs, says the team is passionate about bringing cats and owners together. “While we have always done this through our treats, we wanted to go one step further. “We’re fascinated by cats, so we set out on a mission to get to know them better. Through research, we learned that an adult cat’s meow is their way to communicate with humans, and, by investing in this prototype device we can start to improve understanding between them both – giving cats a voice for the very first time,” he says. Downs says cats are often perceived as quite hard to get to know, independent pets. “With this in mind, we set up The Temptations Lab to find innovative ways to inject even more fun into a cat and owner’s relationship,” says Downs.
