Win a Double Pass to see John Chen at the Graham Young Youth Theatre at Tauranga Boys' College - Tauranga Musica is presenting John Chen at the Graham Young Youth Theatre at Tauranga Boys’ College this month. On Saturday, May 17 at 3pm, John – the youngest-ever winner of the prestigious Sydney International Piano Competition – will perform for a Tauranga audience. John has also won prizes for best performance of works by Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert, Chamber Music and the 19th/20th Century Concerto. Prior to this, John won the Rotorua Concerto competition in 2003. His Sydney win came close on the heels of his first-prize placement in the Third Lev Vlassenko Australasian Piano Competition in Brisbane the year before. In the years since, John has become one of a few worldwide whose career has matched its auspicious competition beginnings. He has a formidable profile in Australia where he has worked with major orchestras, and returns each year to perform with one or more of New Zealand’s top orchestras.
