And now the successful play is coming to the Tauranga stage at 16th Avenue Theatre from June 4-21.
The play, set in London, revolves around London cab driver John Smith, who leads two lives, with two wives – and a precise schedule for juggling both.
With one wife at home in Wimbledon, and another in Streatham, trouble brews when John becomes involved in a mugging and ends up in hospital.
There, both of his addresses surface, causing the Wimbledon and Streatham police to investigate.
Having upset his schedule, John becomes hopelessly entangled in his attempts, with his lazy lay-about neighbour upstairs in Wimbledon, to explain himself to his wives and to two suspicious police officers.
‘Run For Your Wife’ is one of the 20 plays of Ray’s made into stage comedies and performed around the world in 40 different languages.
