Te Wairua o Waitangi, by Sharon Holt includes a singalong CD, as well as teaching information
Te Wairua o Waitangi is about Waitangi. We added this title to our collection of Te Reo Singalong books because many teachers, parents and retailers asked for a book about Waitangi that would be enjoyed by children. The premise of the book is that we all have a responsibility to care for and protect the Maori language and culture as well as our natural resources. The book follows the sentence structure in te reo which translates roughly to "Who will honour the treaty? You will, I will, they will, we all will..." etc. Children love to sing along with the catchy tune.

Mahi Tahi, by Sharon Holt includes a singalong CD, as well as teaching information
Mahi Tahi means work together. Children will enjoy the catchy tune, and soon be joining in with the words. The illustrations of children working together in their animal costumes will delight adults and children. The book includes an English translation, glossary, guitar chords and list of activity ideas to extend the sentence structures taught in the book.
To be in to win via email, email info@booksellers.co.nz with the subject line 'te reo', telling us how you commemorate the signing of the Treaty of the Waitangi, and including your physical address. Competition closes at 12 noon on Thursday, 11 February. The winner of last week's poetry draw was Helen Tam.
Please note that we only accept one entry from each person - any double-ups will have their extra entries removed from the draw.
