A three-year journey around New Zealand’s meeting houses resulted in a handsome book from one of the country’s notable art-world families. Bishop Muru Walters, his son Robin and Robin’s wife Sam, both photographers, visited ancient wharenui and bold new buildings, recording people and events and detailing the carvings, kowhaiwhai and tukutuku panels that have such significance to hapu and iwi in all parts of the country.
