One of the inspirations for the
one-sentence story concept is the unsubstantiated tale of a bet Ernest Hemingway was supposed to have made with friends, in which he wagered he could tell a whole story in only six words.
The result: “For sale, baby shoes, never worn.”
We have no idea if the legend is true, but that’s just about the saddest thing we’ve ever read, and it goes to show how much you can say with just a few words.
