A decade ago, Heilala was established as an aid project after a cyclone ripped through the Tongan island of Vava’u.
Since then, the company has revived Tonga’s vanilla growing industry and has won praise from chefs and foodies alike for its range.
The vanilla beans are grown and sun-dried in Tonga before heading to Tauranga to be made into extract, paste or syrup, or packaged as beans. Last year, Heilala built further on their ties with Tonga and partnered with Tonga National Youth Congress to make a cold pressed coconut oil under the Heilala brand.
Today, Heilala can be found in the world’s best restaurant kitchens, used in the best food products and is available in the best food retailers.
