Win 2-nights accommodation at Lidgard house on Kawau Island valued at $900 Kiwi Families

Normally only available to members, the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron is giving away a 2-night family stay at its historic beach house in Smelting House Bay, Kawau Island
This historic beach house in Smelting House Bay, Kawau Island is owned by the Squadron and is available for members to rent. It has recently been refurbished.
Lidgard house can sleep up to eight people in three rooms. One room has a Queen Bed, another 2 x single beds and the 3rd room has 4 x single beds.
It is furnished, has a fully-equipped modern kitchen, TV, stereo and washing machine and dryer. Cutlery, crockery and linen are provided, although it is recommended visitors take extra towels.
There is a BBQ on the deck which looks out to School House Bay. For those who don’t want to cook, the Kawau Boating Club is just a short walk around the boaties path.
You don’t even need to own your own boat to get there, an easy forty minute drive north of Auckland is Sandspit Wharf where you can catch a ferry direct to the wharf at Lidgard House. (Transfer not included in the prize).

The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron holds a special place in the heart of many Aucklanders. Even if you don’t sail, most people know the white building under the Harbour Bridge at Westhaven, and who hasn’t heard of the America’s Cup?However, it’s not all about racing for the Squadron. Members enjoy a wide array of social events, weekend away trips, golf days, Mother’s and Father’s Day brunches, balls, dances, and much more. There’s even a children’s Christmas party. It is so much more than just a yacht club and you don’t event need to own a boat to be a member.
While you have to be a member to enjoy the Squadron’s facilities, it’s also a popular venue for weddings, receptions, functions, and meetings for members and non-members alike. The onsite staff will provide anything you need and the catering is of the high standard you would expect from such an elegant venue.
The internationally recognised training options include a ‘Learn to Sail’ programme that is also part of the Squadron’s offerings, as well as ‘school hours for mums only’ course.
Under the leadership of one of the Squadron’s youngest Commodores, Steve Mair, the RNZYS is looking forward to future generations to write the next chapters in Auckland’s great “Squadron” story.
